Scholarship Scheme for children of PIO/NRI

Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs of the Government of India has announced a Scholarship Scheme for the children of People of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) for admission in higher and technical institutions in India for the academic year 2008-2009. The Scheme SPDC is applicable for undergraduate programmes for Professional and General Courses (except Medical and other related courses).

Candidates should be children of persons of PIO/NRI status and of 17-21 years age as on October 1, 2008 i.e., only candidates born on or after October 1, 1987 and before October 1, 1991 are eligible.

Candidates would be selected on the basis of a common entrance test to be conducted by Educational Consultants India Limited (Ed. CIL). Entrance tests will be conducted on May 18, 2008 and the results declared by the 2nd week of June 2008.
